I regularly cook with turmeric and use it in DIY facial masks for its health and beauty benefits:
- Anti-inflammatory
- Heart health
- Anti-aging
So, how in the world did I miss making smoothies with turmeric?! It all started with our having a ton of carrots that we just couldn't consume fast enough. When I haven't a clue as to what to do with a raw fruit or vegetable, I look up smoothie recipes with the plant food that has just been chillin'.
Did you get that? Refrigerator..."chilling"...LOL. Anyone? Yes? No? Too much?
Long story short, I found a beautiful recipe with carrots, pineapples, ginger, and turmeric. And that's when the Where in the world have I been to just learn about turmeric smoothies now? moment, hit.
You may find the recipe here. I have made some modifications to this smoothie recipe, including:
- Replacing the one cup of almond milk with 3/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk and 1/4 cup of unsweetened coconut milk
- Added a peeled orange
- Added a handful of frozen mangoes
Now, any smoothie of mine with an orange fruit or veggie likely has a pinch of turmeric in it too.
To our health, friends!
